★ WHERE DOES IT COME FROM: Organic Agave Nectar is a sweetener with the consistency of syrup naturally extracted from the Salmiana Agave. Salmian Agave is a cactus-like plant native to Mexico. Native farmers from Mexico harvest this “honey water” twice daily and take it to a location for filtering and processing. Heat not exceeding 113 degrees F is applied to break the compound down into simple sugars.
★ LOW GLYCEMIC INDEX: Agave Syrup is primarily fructose and is said to be 1.5 sweeter than sugar. Despite this, the Agave Syrup has a very low glycemic index of 17 making it a healthy alternative sweetener to sugar or honey. Because of its sweetness, you can use 30% less for an equal amount of sugar, honey or any other sweetener.
